Banana Nut Bread Sift together 1 cup sifted flour, 1 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 3/4 tsp salt. Cream 1/2 cup sugar and 1/3 cup shortening, add 2 eggs, and beat well. Stir in 1 cup mashed bananas (2) alternately with dry ingredients and add 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired. Bake in a greased loaf pan at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
