Could you use them in a pie?

Subject: [CnD] seeking recipe for filled cookies/thumbprint cookies

Hey everyone,
We have a nearly full jar of cherry preserves that none of us likes very much, but I think they'd go quite well in cookies. I'd probably replace the vanilla in the cookies with almond, too. I have one recipe, but does anyone have any recipes they prefer for this kind of cookie? I'm thinking of the type you form into balls, then poke a deep hole in which you fill with some kind of jam or custard. Thanks!
