You can smash it, because the warmer they get, the softer they get and it is easy to just turn int o a casserole over the skillet, if you want add the color marshmallows and put it in a preheated oven at 350 for a few minutes so that the marshmellows get soft.

Melt together in a large skillet over medium heat; add sweet potatoes,then add pecans and stir to coat. Smash them a bit so you have more and all the flavors are spread through evenly. Cover skillet,and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce is dark and the potatoes are candied. They should be tender, and all ingrediants have been distributed evenly. Serve while still hot or warm. Also taste great served as a cool dessert.
