OvernightCaramel French Toast

2 tablespoons light corn syrup

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 cup brown sugar

12 slices wheat bread, divided

6 eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt

In a small saucepan, combine corn syrup, butter and brown sugar. Simmer
until syrupy. Pour into 13 by 9 inch pan. Place 6 slices of bread over sugar
mixture. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla and salt in medium bowl. Pour half of egg
mixture over bread. Layer remaining bread slices on top. Pour remaining egg
mixture evenly over all. Cover pan and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven
to 350 degrees. Bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Serve warm with maple
syrup, if desired.

Makes 6 servings.
