FROM SCRATCH, YELLOW CAKE MIX
Serves twelve. ready in: 1-2 hrs. ingredients 2 cups flour 1 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup shortening 1/4 cup butter, softened 1 cup milk 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 eggs directions Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 13" X 9" pan or two 8" or 9" round cake pans. Beat all ingredients on low speed, scraping sides, 30 seconds. Beat on high 3 minutes. Pour into pan(s). Bake 13" X 9" pan 40-45 minutes (or round cake pans 30-35 minutes), until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pan(s); cool completely. Frost as desired.
