Fried Green Tomatoes 1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 egg, beaten 1/4 cup milk 4 to 6 medium green tomatoes, sliced 1/2 inch thick 1 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Combine flour and brown sugar; place on a shallow plate. In a bowl, combine egg and milk. Coat both sides of each tomato with the flour mixture. Dip in the milk mixture, then dredge in the bread crumbs. In a skillet, heat butter and oil over medium-high heat. Fry tomatoes until brown on both sides but firm enough to hold their shape. Makes 6 servings.
