CoCos,

A search for the word "cooperation" in the SSRN abstract _titles_ nets
487 hits. "Commons" gets 112. Searching for "prisoners dilemma" in
titles, abstracts, and keywords nets 72. Even assuming a fair amount
of overlap between these searches it seems safe to assume we could be
talking about as many as 300+ individual authors posting academic work
related to our topic, all candidates for outreach. And this only begins
to define the domain of relevant searches at this one resource.

I don't think this is a matter of "if we build it they will come" so
much as "what the heck will get built when they all show up?" It would
be childs play to send out five outreach emails a day and have a steady
stream of three or four new CoCo members a week for a few weeks. But
then what? If we don't have something for these folks to do they'll do
as so many of us have: view, join, lurk.

I think we can do better than that, but it's going to take some doing.

If we had a seed or starter or base recommendation for the Cooperation
Studies curriculum I think we could invite every one of those SSRN
authors to come to the wiki and join in the discussion. And I think it
might be a great experiment to see just what would develop from such a
project.

So that's what I want to do. I want to send out a few daily contacts
and invite these total strangers to come to our wiki and have their way
with our content. Only thing missing is that starter content. Well,
that and some sense of general assent from Andrea and Howard, to whom I
would argue we should always grant veto powers.

Thoughts?

rl

ps: I've made a couple small updates to the wiki as well this morning.
