[COOT] how can I set up probe/reduce for all users (linux)

Hello Everyone

On my mac, I define the locations of probe and reduce in a .cootrc  
file in my home directory as suggested by Paul several coot  
generations ago.
Is this still the preferred method or is there a newer/better way for  
coot to find the molprobity programs?

Is there some way for me to define the locations of probe/reduce in  
Linux for all users (other than by copying my .cootrc file to  
everyone's home directory)?
