Hi John:
Just to put this into context, my "general plea" was that of a small-
time user with very finite time and resources who has tried to make
stuff available from my two computers to others, not that of a
developer. In addition, coot in fink should compile on 10.4, 10.5,
and 10.6; that is the beauty of compiling everything yourself with a
package manager like fink (or manually) -- you don't have to rely upon
anyone else's OS or hardware configuration.
This was the first I had heard of that problem; the fix with 10.6.1
was made rather quickly. In general, 10.6 has been rather more like a
point upgrade, and indeed has been the smoothest of any I remember.
Having 64-bit coot might be worth the 10.6 upgrade if you are working
on large complexes. I'm a natural-born Luddite, and only grudgingly
own one horseless carriage and actually have no cell phone, and I
never use the ccp4i gui.
All the best,
Bill

Please can the developers keep backwards compatibility with a recent
version of operating systems not just the latest release.
Thanks
