I usually switch to HD graphics 4000 whenever my laptop is running low on battery, therefore powering off the discrete graphics (nvidia 650M). Performance is better than most medium budget discrete graphics cards from 3 or 4 years ago. It doesn't suffer that much when you load big maps, for instance.
