Not as far as I know.
A lot of the chains in my structure weren't loaded.
:-( Are you sure that you were using a bona fide input file?
The missing chains appear to be random, but reopening the coordinate
file results in the same missing chains.

Well, without an example where I can reproduce the problem, it's hard to say.
Stop using the PDB format? If you are using PDBx/mmCIF then I am strongly motivated to fix any problems
caused by Coot.
