Hi Marko, I meant: you asked for an example, and pandda.inspect is an example.

Yes, I know Frank, but wanted to have something standalone for
non-pandda-enabled (is that a word?) projects and including not just “Ligands”
or “events”, but any attention-seeking site in my structure. If your guys can
help to pull out the bit of code that does panda-inspect, would be a step
forward.

Paul, Eta, yes, I know Ctrl-G, but I still need to type the residues. I am
hoping to have something that does not require me (or someone else) to recall
what and where to check. With tens of structures in some cases, with 8 active
sites, 4 allosteric sites, crappy bits to check, my old brain needs a “check
list” to click through to make sure I i) check all the sites and ii) don’t
spend extra time doing navigating rather than staring at the density. If I
could just hit a space bar to flick through that list (like happens with “Go to
(Next) Ligand” button), even better.

Cheers, Marko

Subject: [COOT] Custom pop-up windows

Hello all,

Would anyone have a template/example to create a custom pop-up window (a bit
like “Go to atom….” one) for Coot? We’d like to have something to help to
browse through a large number of sizeable structures (oligomeric protein,
several ligand sites, problematic loops, fair few other sites of “interest”)
as using Go To Atom selection gets a little tiring after a while.

What I’d like to have is

· a custom menu item in Coot

· that pops up a new window

· with a list of all the available molecules (and maps, ideally)

· and buttons to navigate different site (defined by residues, for
example).

A bit like a customised “Go to atom…” navigation window, if you like: “Browse
the sites of interest”

I have managed creation of a custom menus with a scheme script on startup, but
this pop-up window idea has resisted my poor scripting/programming skills.

Any advice & help much appreciated.

Cheers, Marko
