I think that makes sense for the readme. Are the docs also packaged with Hadoop
distributions somehow? It would be nice if you could provide a reference to a
file within the distribution, or instructions on how to build the docs.
The converted documentation looks very good by the way, although I agree that
we need the example config files to be formatted in some kind of <pre> element
for them to be useful.
