Hello, I found an open ticket back from 1998 that discusses that one should look into retaining the original system properties, without considering properties that were set by the application.
I can also see that there is already a map stored inside the JVM used by core libraries. I can also get hold of them through the management MXBean. I would love to get hold of the originals, too. This as I want to trust the user, but not necessarily the code that ran before mine. Would it be feasible to consider adding some System.getOriginalProperty? This could simply read from the jdk internal map that is already retained. Alternatively, maybe a strict mode that makes System.setProperty fail or a noop? Thanks for your opinion on this issue!
