An idea I’ve thought about but never attempted or researched is to do some 
spectral analysis and color the waveform based on the predominant frequency, 
like maybe red for mostly-bass to blue for mostly-treble. This might be really 
useful for identifying beats, or different sections of a song. (The iOS version 
of DJay seems to do something like this.)
