I think the point is that strip-o-gram is distributed with COREBlog, it is leightweight and you don't notice it during installation. On the other hand I would absolutely freak out if installing COREBlog depended on installing PIL. That is just not an option on a lightweight system. It also complicates installation a lot, especially on some not so "run of the mill" platforms. For a zope newbie installing COREBlog is manageable, but installing PIL has stopped many newbies. It should be relatively easy to code a captcha thing as a "drop in" module for those who want/need it. On another note, COREBlog is speedy on my Mac G3/350 (with OpenBSD), while a test install of plone crawled and got removed in no time.
