That's a nice read. The document was upated 2025-07-26. It's criticisms include the lack of a version number for xz. Which is implying that mentioned "inadequacies" are long term. The author of the page is also the author of lzip. So maybe biased but knowledgeable. The author's name is 'Antonio Diaz Diaz'. No wonder why he has gotten into compression ;) Anyway, to me, xz seems less appropriate than lzip. -- Regards, Mike Jonkmans
