They are responsible for translating logical/physical data models into schemas which contain the tables, indexes, triggers, stored procedures, and packages necessary to support the application DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Install and support database software 2. Address space management issues 3. Create, unlock, and reset database accounts 4. Perform database platform qualifications 5. Patch and upgrade database software and databases 6. Perform database monitoring 7. Setup and monitor regular database backups 8. Perform database recoveries 9. Creates and maintains schema objects 10. Analyze storage management and capacity planning needs of database environments 11. Gather and apply security requirements from the application team 12. Oversee Lifecycle Management of database servers 13. Provide guidance to applications team on which database software and features will match their business needs 14. Design and implement a database cluster which meets data availability, recovery, security and auditing requirements including failover procedure testing 15. Build, manage, configure and support Linux Servers 16. Build Linux templates, images, and checklists for qualified and non-qualified server deployment 17. Recommend, manage, configure and support existing new tools and agents for Linux servers ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE 1. At least 3 years prior product and/or application database administrator experience, including proficiency in DBMS, utilities, and tools for Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 2. Completion of training or equivalent work experience to demonstrate proficient use of the platform the database resides on. This may include Unix/Linux operating system or Windows Server operating system 3. Completion of SQL /Oracle training or equivalent work experience 4. Delivers clear, complete and accurate documentation 5. Understands basic data modeling techniques is desired 6. Understanding of how to translate business rules and data requirements into database designs is desired 7. Oracle 91, 10g, 11i 8. Oracle RAC RMAN 9. SQL 200/2005/2008 10. IQ/OQ/PQ 11. Vmware experience 12. The Oracle DBA should have Linux experience.
