When responding, please keep the subject line intact and reply to all email addresses included in the To and CC lines. (Feel free to cut this introductory paragraph, however.) The document, along with other ballot positions, can be found here: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/charter-ietf-cose/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- COMMENT: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for developing this list of woprk items. The charter text is longer than most, and I think it doesn’t seem to need to be. The extra length makes it much harder to understand the intent of the working group. I’d encourage a more concise style that keeps detail to the minimum needed to explain which documents are in scope. Some specific comments: * I think this reads odd in a charter: “The specification has advanced to STD status.” - likely it isn't needed. * The following text is long (and missing a full stop),: “The WG will produce documents for the below proposed and other possible new attributes that are of interest to or requested by other WGs that are consumers of COSE, with a general goal to complete the listed work items before adopting new work” Could this be simply something like: “After completing the current work, the WG may produce specifications for consumers of COSE.” — Howver, I think it is possible that this para could be removed completely, and the para starting “The working group will coordinate its progress with the ACE, SUIT,… ” could thenbe moved to the final lines of the charter to explain future work. * Is this really needed: “The COSE WG will not innovate in terms of cryptography.”, could it be considered covered alreday by other phrases? * I found the explanation of item 2 to be excessively detailed. For me, the goal of the charter is to be able to quickly scan the list of work items to understand what may or may not fall within the scope of the WG. Hope this helps in clarifying the Charter text. _______________________________________________ COSE mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
