Hello Don,
The best you can do is to undertake a CTI site search
http://www.cotyroneireland.com/ and look at the various spellings of your
family name (remember this is Ireland and phonetic spelling can be encountered
until the 1901 census (and beyond). My suggestion is to search for Minnagh,
Mimnagh and Minagh and gain an understanding of those parishes where the name
is recorded. It is always important to look for records of those who remained
at home. Emigration records do not generally commence until the 1840s.
Hope this is useful,
Len Swindley, Melbourne, Australia

Subject: [CoTyroneIreland] Mimnaugh

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I have an ancestor, James Mimnaugh, that
emigrated to the United States around 1820 or so. He has listed his original
home as County Tyrone. Apparently he had a brother or cousin, Patrick Mimnaugh
that emigrated as well.

That’s all of the information I know about his roots in Ireland. Apparently all
of the Mimnaugh’s originated from a small town of Drumquin (sp)……..not sure if
that’s true or not.

If anyone knows anything about any of the Mimnaugh’s in that area I would very
much appreciate any information.

Thank you for reading this email.
