Hello Earl Many thanks for your email. Although I have been researching for sometime I have always hit a brick wall as far as my Cochrane family are concerned. Just recently I thought I would give it another try.
What I do know is my great grandfather was born on 10th August, 1847, (from his death certificate and census information). On the census he said he was born Co. Londonderry. He married Sarah Jane Cunningham on 15th January, 1884, in Glendermott, Co.Londonderry. I have recently found the newspaper announcement for the marriage which says he was of Whitehill, Donemara. After his marriage he was a tenant farmer in Aghanloo, Co.Londonderry. Also shown as a tenant was a James Cochrane - who I guess was his brother. There was a disagreement and James left the farm and he is believed to have emigrated. Thomas' father, also called Thomas Cochrane dies at the farm on 29th July, 1886, age 79. The newspaper announcement says he was of Whitehill, Donemara. I did try and find his death certificate but his death was not registered. Thomas Cochrane (junior) left Ireland with his family in 1897 to go to England. As you can see I know very little. It may be that I am related to George and Muriel but I don't know. I shall follow up all the leads given by the Tyrone list and hopefully I shall break down this brick wall.
