This is a transcript of the marriage of a possible ancestor.
1818 May 28th This twenty eight day of May 1818 I married according to the rules of the Catholic Church George McEwan presently residing in the Barony parish of Glasgow but originally from the County of Tyrone and the parish Lissan, to Mary Shaw presently also residing in the Barony parish of Glasgow but originally from the County and Town of Kirkcudbright in Scotland. The above parties were regularly proclaimed in the Established church and (produced a certificate to that effect from the Lissan clerk stating that no objection had been made against their intended marriage. They were also regularly proclaimed in the church here. Witnesses were Francis ???? Jean Amberson and Isobel ??? Andrew Scott St Andrews Glasgow. Can anyone shine some light on this?
