Hello,

I am new to this list and to the whole site. I know that I am looking for a
needle in a haystack but I am hoping that someone can help direct me where else
to look.

I am from Canada and I am looking for my ancestor - William McFadden - who was
born in Tyrone, went to Canada with the British army to fight in the War of
1812 and then he settled here (near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). The website has
his obituary on the page "born in Tyrone, buried elsewhere" which I pasted
below.

My mom has been working on ancestry.com for several years and we have been
unable to find anyone prior to this ancestor. We know that he also had a
brother who came to Canada after the war (and he remained here as well, we have
found some of his descendants).

So, I am relatively new to researching genealogy, and I'm wondering if anyone
on here can provide advice on how to find information on William, and hopefully
his parents, in Tyrone. Thanks so much.

Josie.
