Hi Margaret, I’ve been looking for the parents of your James Wilson b 1843.
Did you get that year from his headstone, or is there other information that supports it? I would go with his parents being Matthew Wilson and surname McConnell, because it is from his marriage info and would have come from himself, not others who often get it wrong in the death information. Or maybe his mother was a McConnell at the time of his marriage, and his dad died, and his mom remarried? Who knows? I did find one marriage in Tyrone that’s a possibility. Matthew Wilson married Eliza Jane Mcconnell on 23 Dec 1845 in Cappagh. It’s not Mary, and Cappagh is 20 miles from Omagh, but I thought it might be worth consideration. I sympathize with you trying to find the right James Wilson in Tyrone. My GG Grandfather Patrick Wilson was supposed to be James, according to his death registration. But I can’t find Patrick’s birth (or marriage) info anywhere. Who would think it would be hard to find information on a *Patrick* Wilson who was Presbyterian? Ah well. Jeanne from the Great White North (of Canada, lol)
