Dear Jeanne, Yes, the headstone for my James Wilson states his date of birth as being 12 February, 1843. Interestingly his Death Certificate info provided by his son says he was from Oomah,Tyronne and his parents’ names were Matthew Wilson and Mary Newberry.
James' Marriage Certificate (to Louisa Morrow) 1871 Broughton Creek, NSW, Aus, states his parents’ names as "Matthew Wilson and Mary (Maconnel)” I agree with you that at least the information provided on the Marriage Certificate is more likely to be correct rather than the Death Certificate. I have the marriage certificate of Matthew Wilson (bachelor) & Eliza Jane McConnell (Tattynure,Cappagh) 23 Dec 1845 at the Parish Church of Cappagh. His father Richard Wilson of Gortmessan (nr. Enniskillen). My dad’s cousin - grandson of James Wilson - has done a BigY DNA test and this has proven we are related to quite a large number of Wilsons from the Enniskillen area. Of the various Wilsons included in this DNA group there appears a few McConnells from Tattynure. Also the name Newberry/Newbury appears through the generations of these Wilsons also. James reputedly came to Aus in early 1860s, arriving in Queensland. I cannot find him on any ship of that time. Family lore has a brother Robert who went to US when James came to Aus. I wondered if the father Matthew was married to Mary McConnell, had two children Robert & James and then died. He could then have married her sister Eliza Jane. (stranger things have happened). If it hadn’t been for the DNA evidence I probably would have given up on his name being “Wilson”. re Patrick Wilson - it was only the other day I was looking through some long bdm list of protestant churches and noticed a couple of Patricks. I am not saying they were “Patrick Wilson”.
