I would recommend that you look at Couchbase Mobile and Sync Gateway. The
name mobile is slightly misleading as the .Net and Java implementations of
Couchbase Mobile are embedded databases that you can run from a desktop
environment and that can sync back to a Couchbase Cluster using Sync
Gateway. http://developer.couchbase.com/mobile/
