Warren, I departed Big Bear up to the lake then made a downwind departure to the west over Baldwin Lake. N99590 climbed good to about 300-400' then just hung there until I got near the rim, then just shot up at about 600'/min. I figure I got an updraft near the rim since the wind and air temp was pretty cool. My prop was a 7150 (cruise prop) then but is a 7148 now.
