I think that if you check in the F1A parts manual you will find that they
did move the gascolator to the lower port firewall.  The parts and
location
would make a good case for approval of a Field Approval for a 337. It may
be difficult to get the same parts and if our friends at Skyport or Univar
would do a proper STC based on new components and the previous design as
would most supporting manufactures we would then have a safer aircraft and
they could also get the STC approved as an Official Alternate Means of
Compliance for the 1986 AD. If we were flying the Luscombe that would have
been done by the DLHA.

I would think that the unit off of a Cessna 150 and proper fuel hose would
do the job and most of us could benefit from a new fuel hose in any case.

Perhaps we could find a way to encourage someone to get this done.
