Go to the toy store and get tiny bottles of model enamel in the correct
colors.  Be sure to get white also.  Paint the appropriate marks on the
glass.  Paint a "witness mark" (thin vertical white line) at the bottom of
the glass and extend it onto the case.  This is required to indicate if
the
glass has moved with respect to the case (which would invalidate the other
marks).

Now your markings are legal.  Does this make those "generic indicators"
legal
too?  Not necessarily...
