In the early days of ownership of my Coupe, I noticed that the right hand
tank did
leak out of the vent. After careful observation of the situation, I
noticed
that if
I tightened the cap fully to the stop, the vent opening was about 10
degrees
right
of center. The fuel would just stream out of it. Next time up, I made
certain that
the vent rib was exactly parallel with the centerline of the plane.
Leaking
stopped. It is my theory that if the vent opening is straight forward,
the
air
impact creates a pressurization of the tank, thus stopping overflow.
Could
be wrong
here, but it just seems that way.
