I mentioned once before that the yokes I acquired (complete with inserts) for my Coupe from another list member had both hub halves the diameter of the smaller portion of the control shaft. My shafts have a collar swaged on that seems to be designed to keep you from punching the panel at full down. That collar also fits into the rear portion of the hub, which has a greater diameter than the front portion.
I'm thinking of just having the rear hub halves machined to the larger diameter. Before I do that, however, I'm wondering if anyone has replaced their control shafts. I'm thinking that perhaps the shafts that Univair is shipping new might work just fine with the new yokes... ...it's entirely possible that the same effect could be gained from a collar that was entirely behind the yoke, rather than fitting into it. Since it's going to be a royal practicing bitch to get the old shafts out of the yokes after 54 years of corroding in place, and since the U-joints could be tighter, I'm not entirely averse to the notion of renewing everything back to and including the U-joints. Then I could forego the machine shop efforts/cost and improve things too. Thoughts?
