I replaced my nose bowl on 2556H in 1978 with an Aluminum one that =
started cracking out within two years. I later talked to Sid Cohen of =
the WI wing who walked me through the process and necessity of making =
sure all of the stress was relieved from the whole nose assembly prior =
to just bolting another bowl on. I came home and took mine apart again =
and found places that I needed to allow a full half inch gap to relieve =
the stress from the rest of the ill fitting nose assembly starting at =
the "motor mount". I think Sid's conclusion was to replace most if not =
all of his assembly just to get rid of the ill fitting parts from years =
past. I would be interested if anyone has seen Sid's plane lately to =
see how well the nose bowl has survived the last four or five years =
since he spent all of those hours carefully and precisely fitting each =
piece.
I figured up what it was going to cost to do as he did...and am still =
waiting on a winning lottery ticket to buy the parts.
