Subject: bubble windshield

I am getting ready to install my new windshield and could someone give
me a few pointers, as I am new to all of this and want to make sure I
give myself every chance of being successful. Thanks from me and my 1946
415C ercoupe. Smitty

Smitty, when I have the windshield perfectly in position I take a
soldering
iron with a very sharp, pointed conical tip, and make the holes for the
windshield screws through the holes in the aircraft. I can then drill the
holes very slightly oversize for expansion with confidence, since I now
have
starter holes that are "reinforced" by the melting. When drilling, use a
Plexiglas bit, and use a very slow speed. What causes cracks is the drill
hanging up.
