----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Fred, There are several ways to check tour tach yourself, but the best way is to take it to an instrument shop. I had a problem for a long time with the tach showing a loss of power on the take off run.I would get a static check of 2150 rpm and when I advanced the throttle it would go down to 1800 when the wheels left the ground. I really thought that something was wrong with the engine. I borrowed a tach meter and checked it at 500,1000,1500 2000,2650 and the tach checked out perfectly. I finally, in despair, took it to our instrument shop and sure enough, even though it checked out at those settings, right between 1800 and 2200, the tach went crazy. It was junk.....installed a new tach and my readings were right on the money. 2200 static, and 2350 on climb out. It takes only a minute to have it done professionly .... . Bill Coons 99822
