Hi Dennis; It is my understanding that the Feds clarified their simplification of shoulder harnesses with the following effect: If the shoulder harness can be installed without modifying any metal, i.e., wrapping around a structural member, only a log book entry is required. If the structure must be modified, i.e., riveting or bolting in some sort of attach points, then a 337 field approval is required. I am sure that I received a bulletin from the local FSDO clarifying their position, but with my great filing system, > g < I wouldn't even start to look for it. Hope this helps.
