Hi All-

I just discovered, when I went to take my F-1 out this afternoon, that the
right-hand exhaust stack is cracked, shortly after the point where the tw=
o
pipes (one from each cylinder on that side) join. This is new, because I
can now smell exhaust in the cockpit during ground operations, where I
couldn't before.

I keep wondering: did I do something that caused it to crack? I've only =
had
the plane since October, about 25 flight hours. No hard landings or othe=
r
bumps. I noticed today that during my initial climb (only about 2000 fee=
t),
the EGT went up to about 1550=BA, which is higher than I remember it goin=
g
before, but I'm not sure. It went down to about 1200=BA during cruise.

Is there some operational no-no that tends to crack exhaust stacks?

By the way, I'm aware of the risks of CO poisoning, and read all of those
messages on the subject that went by in early October.

Thanks
Peter
