After reading the many opinions and comments on wing attach bolt/fitting
maintenance, and the general lack of consensus thereof, I shared all the
information with an A&P who carefully inspected my airplane's wing
attach points and came up with the following:

PROBLEM - Forney F-1 right wing upper forward attach fittings worn .004
to .005 inch, caused by improper torqueing of wing attach bolt.
Movement is slight, but discernible.

SOLUTION - Clean all parts, apply zinc chromate and torque wing attach
bolt to 1100 - 1300 inch lbs. This should stop the movement. If no
movement is detected, fly aircraft, checking for any movement before
each flight (as you should anyway). If any subsequent movement is
detected, replace the attach bolt and fittings in question.

To me, this sounds like a logical and safe approach to stopping any
further wear. If it doesn't work, then I'll replace the fittings (4 at
$175 each, plus removing wing skin, old fittings and riveting in new
ones, etc., $$$$).

Am I on the right track here?
