But seriously, if you have a Stromberg carb, it isn't likely that it'll make much difference at 3000 feet. If you have the Marvel, perhaps it would, but 3000 feet isn't really that high. You might save on fuel. And you might have a happier engine on 100LL. The real boon to a ability to lean is for ground running on 100LL, where the baby Continentals actually seem to generate most of their lead build-up. If I ever have to feed a steady diet of blue gas, I'll get my mixture control re-activated for that reason in particular. Other than that, since my life is spent 90% below 3000 feet, there's little reason!
