Maynard and others, You are right on about checking it very, very
carefully. Wings can oil can, and do. Legs can be dry and need oil. Oil
the
gear and check again and again.
It would really be the sh**s to watch your wing tip folding up and back.
Would not make for any good feeling in your family and friends.

Jim, this is not good! DO NOT FLY!!!!
If no one else sends you the information before this afternoon, I
will scan it
and get it to you. What you have is a bad / loose joint between the
main
spar
and the spar extension at the end of the wing.
Get the information and get it repaired! Maynard Smith, EOC
Wingleader.

"I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my perceived
problem.I went out this morning with the guy that I bought the plane
from 5 yrs ago and we checked it by him lifting the wing and me
looking
and feeling everywhere in that area.I all most missed it but while
laying on the ground, resting,he picked up the wing again and I found
out

that the noise is coming from the landing gear.I guess that the noise
is

transmitted into the wing. Thanks again .Jim"

Jim:
I hate to be pushy. But......... I think from what you said in your
first posting:
"It seems to be coming from about 4 feet from the outer
edge.
I try to lift it about 1 ft. I can sometimes see a wrinkle
as
I lift."
This is not! I repeat NOT!! Coming from the landing gear!
Since no one else seems to be getting as concerned as I am. I will
scan and send you the two ERCO Service Memorandums now! Take care of
it!
