----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

Just to keep you informed, I have started a database of coupes. I just
started with serial numbers 1 to 5080, but I will try to include the
rest. The FAA database was the source of most of the coupes I have found
so far. FAA's database has over 340,000 planes from more than 52,000
manufactures/models. It is a handful to work with and over 1.5 GB in
Access (my coupe dir is now over 2 GB). I found about 2,526 "older"
coupes
still listed (about 50%). The NTSB database added a few that have been
lost (34), but it only goes back to 1983 online and does not give serial
numbers.

I will be out of town for a week or so, but I will try to get the list
online with an explanation of my theory when I get back. The data is not
meaningful yet, but I looked at runs of 21 coupes. A serial number
plus/minus 10 is defined as a neighborhood. I have found neighborhoods
with as many as 90% (18) still listed and neighborhoods with zero. My
N99904 has serial number 2527. With 71% still listed in its neighborhood,
I feel a little better then I would, if it were the only one in its
neighborhood still listed. N99905 is one of the missing numbers that I
sure would like to find.

If any of you have taken a coupe out of service (museum, salvage, stored,
foreign registration) or know of ones with major corrosion problems (fixed
or not) would you let me know (please include N-number and serial number
if
you know them)? If you send them directly to me, it will reduce the
traffic on the list service.

Does any one know if all the serial numbers were used? Did they skip
numbers?

I need to get at least 500 more.
