Darrel: I do not believe the upper cowling supports were fastened to the fuselage through the fiber washer until the supports were made significantly larger (Alon) and the ring that the nose bowl and cowling supports are fastened to was no longer fastened to the engine. If your nose bowl and cowling ring is fastened to the engine mount in front of the starter, then the upper cowling supports are not fastened to the fuselage at the rear end.
