Before tackling a nose gear rebuild on my F-1, I'll try replentishing the fluid I've lost due to a leak to see if that helps the low nose gear and now a shimmy on landing. I've never added fluid to the nose strut in the 40 hrs. I've put on the Aircoupe. Is it OK to mix hydraulic fluid brands, or do I have to drain (suck) it out first, then add the new fluid? Also, is it possible that low fluid level could cause a shimmy? They seem to have happened at the same time. Nutcracker bushings and steering linkage don't appear loose enough to cause a shimmy. Thanks for the responses!
