I've removed and drained the nose gear from my Forney for rebuild. I'm
starting to feel stupid because even with all the
parts/service/memorandum manuals I have, I can't figure out how to get
the two halves of the strut apart. So far I've got the cylinder head
loose (spring-loaded pins, not screws, hold it in place) but from there
it's unclear how the outer cylinder slides off to expose the inside of
the strut.

Can anyone walk me through this procedure? Thanks!
