When I drove to the airport this morning to fly out to breakfast, I passed by the US Army Reserve building. Now I live in a small town north of Dover (pop-4,000) and this armory was built back in the 1940s during WWII. Before the terrorist strike, it was used by the town as a boys and Girls club more often than the occasional US Army Reserve meetings. The entire, one story building is no more than 10,000 sq ft. and I have never seen any military hardware parked at the site in the last 30 years. Today, the gates were locked. Behind the gates was a Humvee with two armed guards in battle dress. (I assume they were guarding this decrepit building from some kind of terrorist attack.) If they are, they will die of old age before that happens! now THAT is OVERKILL! On another note, when we landed back at 38N (Smyrna Airport is a grass airfield) We were told to NOT change the transponder frequency until we were on the ground. Apparently, ATC (out of DAFB) wanted to make sure that we landed at our intended location.
