I would have a really good look at each intake port fitting, gasket, and hose connections. Sounds like it is running lean, but maybe at a resonant viberation point, the gasket/hose, etc. leaks air....momentairly.... Taking off at 4500 ft. full rich should be too rich ( well, Maybe 5000 ft.), still there shouldn't be a hesitation if the throttle is opened slowly... ??Marvel or Stromberg ?? Marvel has accelerator pump and should take the throttle quickly;;;Stromberg will stutter if opened quickly, as it does not have an acceleration pump... At above 5000 ft, I wpould expect to see need for leaning the mixture...to keep the engine running smoothly... Let us know what you find.
