Hi Louis .

The coupe has been designed for pilots which were 5 something in size
and weighted only 170 pounds.

I am 6.1 in size and have no leg room problems. I fly without rudder
pedals. The bench though has been a pain in my coupe. Here's the story.
I bought my Coupe with some bucket seats installed. These seats raised
the seating position by an inch or two. That caused a problem for me
because of my size. They also were black vinyl, which was very often not
a pleasurable experience to get into here in sunny California. My
mechanic also mentioned that no paperwork was made fort he seats, so I
decided to put the original bench in. The bench gave me back head room,
but was uncomfortable in the back. The angle for the backrest seemed too
steep to me. I compared it to my bucket seats and found that if the
backrest would be 1 or two inch farther back a taller pilot would enjoy
a lot more head room and would sit much more relaxed. Unfortunately the
Backrest is fixed against frame C, no adjustments possible. But I found
a workaround. I manufactured a 1 inch aluminum pipe which was bend by a
professional pipe bender in a shape of a wide 'W'. Thus using the old
attach points of the backrest, but giving the 1 inch room for the back
of pilot and copilot. You have to cut the straight aluminum piece of the
backrest and rivet the new piece in.

This modification is actually redline to the FAA regulations, it should
be accompanied with a Form 337. I guess. My mechanic look at it and
found it sufficient. You can put new interior in disassemble and
reassemble the seats yourself - all legal, but changing structure needs
some approval.
