It seems to me we are comparing here Apples with Oranges. All Lycomings brought to justice here are originating from bigger aircrafts. These engines are not so over loaded like the small continentals are. You have to compare the same size engine to be fair. The Tomahawk I learned in has his Lycoming reworked ever so often and got it's last full overhaul with 1200 hours.
