I'm one of the seemingly unlucky few with the Marvel Carb on my C85. I love the way it used to fire up with 3 pumps of the throttle, no primer installed. I say used to, because now it doesn't start unless primed through the air cleaner manually. (Dangerous, tricky, and not the way I want it..). Once running, she purrs. I suspect the accelerator pump is weak or dead. When she is warm, she fires right up. Again, that's one of the reasons I suspect the accelrator pump. I'm starting to wonder if the pump can be changed without disassembling the whole carb for rebuild. It would be a shame to spend $300 or so on a rebuild kit, when the carb is in such good shape. From looking at the carb, it appears this may be possible, as there is a small access at the base of the pump, which looks like it will allow pump servicing without even removing the carb from the plane. Univair catalog lists a marvel pump for $19, but I have no idea if it's the right one. The catalog is confusing. Anyone with knowledge of this tricky little carb? Any sources for the pump, and can it in fact be serviced on the carb, instead of tearing it down?
