I just learned something. I went out and applied a megger to an aircraft tire. I put one probe to a wheel bolt & the other to the tire. HIGHLY conductive!!! Not just a little bit conductive, but a whole lot conductive. This was with a little 600 volt megger. I no longer have access to a hi-pot after retirement. I bet I could make one of the tires sizzle with say 25,000 volts or so. <G> Yes indeed the airplane is very effectively grounded when the wheels touch the pavement.
