I know the guy in Eagle River. His name is Richard Mork, and he is a
member of my EAA chapter. He replaced the main landing gear with Cessna
nose gears, and mounted them in front of the main spars on each wing. He
beefed up the tail cone with extra stringer longerons in order to make it
able to withstand the stresses incurred when the tail bounces on grass
runways. The engine is from an early model Cessna 172. He replaced the
control yokes with sticks. Because he has modified it so greatly it is
now classified as a Homebuilt. I have heard that it is for sale. If
interested, I will give you his phone number.

I took those pix at Sun N Fun 1992.

Jeff Orear wrote to say he saw (and sat in) an Ercoupe taildragger based
in Eagle River, Wisconsin. The guy that owns it had repositioned the
landing gear forward (like the one I photographed), and had installed a
160hp engine!

Wonder what sort of counter weight he had to use?
